Spain is in an uncertain place. They had only managed to perfect the excavation and refinement of Gravicite by 1882. The Spanish sense of craftsmanship was valued by some across Europe in the development of Gravicite technologies. Once Spain had developed the technology, the returning engineers became favorites of the monarchy. They were given large state stipends and kept at the royal palaces.
They recently have been attempting to use their new discovery as leverage in negotiations with their neighbors. Their position is still shaky though because the current monarch is only 1 years old. Alfonso XIII has been the monarch since birth as his father died in 1886. Maria Christina, his mother, is currently the regent.
